We are all told to do it....How then do we practice CELLf Care when only given a portion of the...
knowledge needed to truly Care for ourCELL'ves? An example of this type of confusion is exactly what you are pointing out in your question. 1. You are aware you need to protect the skin of you and your family from over exposure to sun. 2. You now KNOW the very sunscreen you may be using may be causing hormonal and endocrine disruption. Yet where is how to apply the advice in a way that is CELL'f protective?
Here is a quote from the National Institute of Health study: link provided here:(nih.gov/news/health/nov2014/nichd-14.htm, ) that I believe you are referring to: "a class of about 29 chemicals commonly used, among other purposes, in sunscreens and other personal care products to protect skin and hair from sun damage. Some of these chemicals, upon being absorbed by the skin, can interfere with the body’s hormones and endocrine system processes" (Bold added)..... soooo what does that mean for our bodies- not to mention the little bodies that we slather with sunscreen products? The World Health Organization reports: "Human health depends on a well-functioning endocrine system to regulate the release of certain hormones that are essential for functions such as metabolism, growth and development, sleep and mood. Some substances known as endocrine disruptors can alter the function(s) of this hormonal system increasing the risk of adverse health effects."(http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2013/hormone_disrupting_20130219/en/).(again bold added).
Here is my Answer of what to do: Take what we KNOW and use a fabulous tool offered by EWG. When you click on the Blue EWG it will take you to the tool by opening in a separate window. I did this so you can put this window next to it and click on the areas being pointed out in the next slide. couple slides. Go ahead and open the EWG link.
Then take Step 1. click next for slide: Step 2.

Special Note for Families with Gluten, Corn, Soy, Casein sensitivity. The EWG list provides information on the chemical components of the sunscreen. I have a few favorites I use and recommend that rank 1 and 2 in safety on the EWG list and are Gluten, Corn, Soy, Casein Free. I share that on the post titled: Gluten Free, Corn Free, Soy Free, Toxin Free Sunscreen
